Southampton have signed Belgian winger Steve de Ridder on a three-year deal.
The 24-year-old attacking midfielder arrives from De Graafschap for a "significant undisclosed fee".De Ridder told the club website: "As soon as I arrived here I was convinced this was the right move. This is a big adventure for me."
Saints boss Nigel Adkins added: "Steve is an attacking player who has played on both flanks and up top and has the ability to make things happen."
Adkins continued: "From what we can see his attitude is very good and he desperately wants to maximise his potential, which is underlined by his industrious style of play."
The Ghent-born midfielder played with ex-Saints defender Jan-Paul Saeijs at De Graafschap, and said the former Southampton loan man had influenced his decision to join the south coast side.
"Jan-Paul told me that when he was here it was the best time of his life," De Ridder continued. "So I am curious about what is in store for me."
