Jalfrezis have overtaken tikka masalas as the most popular Indian curry in the UK, according to a new survey.
Chaat! Magazine, the in-house magazine of the British Curry Club, found that the more spicy dish is now rated above former favourites.Tikka masalas only made it into eighth place, with the madras at number two and rogan josh in third.
Bhunas, baltis, dhansaks, pasandas, aloo gobis and kormas make up the rest of the top 10.
73% of those that voted for jalfrezi said that they liked spicier curries with people in north-west England liking the dish the most.
Dave Jenkins, editor of Chaat! magazine, said: "It's really interesting to see that jalfrezi has topped the list.
"People have been depending on the milder curries for too long now, so it's great to see some more adventurous dishes topping the list."
The top 10 curries in the "top of the poppadoms" survey are:
- Jalfrezi
- Madras
- Rogan josh
- Bhuna
- Balti
- Dhansak
- Pasanda
- Tikka masala
