Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, says it wants to turn the game into the first entertainment franchise with one billion fans.
The mobile phone app has now been downloaded 300 million times, according to Rovio's chief marketing officer Peter Vesterbacka. But speaking at Seattle's Casual Connect conference he said the company was aiming even higher.
"Next year, we want to be the leading entertainment brand in China," he said.
This is about more than just developing a Chinese language version of the game or opening up an Angry Birds shop in Shanghai.
Its toys, T-shirts and other merchandise sell well with around eight million cuddly toys having already been snapped up by fans.
Worldwide Success The brand has previously been pirated in China but that's not seen as entirely negative by Vesterbacka.
"You can't really fight that except by making better products than the copies," he said.
"Instead of sending lawyers, we are building products."
He also admitted Rovio was concentrating all its efforts on Angry Birds, having developed 51 games before finding worldwide success with Angry Birds.
He said: "You think you can make hit after hit.
"We know how hard it is to do that, so we are betting everything on Angry Birds."
